It provides a list of medical journals that are free for authors (no open access or Article Processing Charge = APC) and free for readers (no subscription fee or advertisement), indexed in MEDLINE, and publish peer-reviewed manuscripts in English alongside other languages. The list encourages these journals to embrace other open science practices and encourages authors to submit to these journals.
This list was created to fight against predatory journals and commercial academic publishing.
These journals are funded via volunteers’ work, donations, membership fees from societies and associations, and public funding via universities and governments.
